The Master, Snubbed
I realize complaining about the Academy Awards only makes it stronger, but no Best Picture nod for The Master and no Best Director nod for P.T. Anderson is unconscionable.* In no world is Silver Linings Crapbook better than The Master, unless we’re counting cliches, which we might very well be.
* Especially since Anderson’s previous and even stronger film, There Will Be Blood, had the misfortune of being released in the same year as No Country For Old Men. TWBB is possibly the only film next to which No Country looks like a mainstream production.
