Learning To Re-Hate the Clintons
Pareene makes an interesting side point:
The other question, of course, is what a Clinton 2016 campaign would do to The Right. The anti-Clinton machine would have to crank itself back up, though it’s been dormant for so many years now that the default position among right-wingers since 2007 has been basically to proclaim unalloyed admiration and love for Hillary Clinton, as a means of insulting Obama in comparison.
This goes for Bill, too. Conservatives thought they detected a whiff of rivalry between Obama and the former President, which they tried to exploit several times, most recently by claiming that Bill’s overflowing charisma at the 2012 DNC made Obama look ineffectual. (And I guess it did, for about a day, and then Obama got reelected.)
It’s obviously way too early to talk about 2016, but it still would be fascinating to watch the right learn to hate the Clintons all over again.
