Salon tries and fails to get us to take seriously Ben Shapiro, the mastermind at Breitbart Jr. who released a tape purportedly proving Obama’s college radicalism that turned out to be a young Obama hugging his professor, and also fell for “Friends of Hamas,” a fictional extremist group that Shapiro thought was real. The profile mentions his appearances on Fox News, “where he robotically dispenses talking points at a ruthless clip that demands to be taken seriously,” as if this were a good thing. And anyway, this is the
only most revealing quote in the whole piece:
While he’s best known for trashing liberals, fairly or not, Shapiro insists he respects them — as long they’re smart — and loves to mix it up with them. “I think that we appreciate the folks that are on the other side, just like anybody who’s in any war. You sort of learn to appreciate the folks on the other side, because without the other side, there is no war,” he explains.
